Statesman Style a la Eban

As as ode to some of our most highly followed blog posts, we are going to be re-posting many of them in the next little while … such as this one:

AbbaEbanBlog2“History teaches us that men and nations behave wisely once they have exhausted all other alternatives.” (Abba Eban, 1970)

Abba Eban (2 February 1915 – 17 November 2002) was Israel’s most famous statesman and politician, hugely responsible for the modern state of Israel today. Overcoming a difficult early life to eventually distinguish himself at Cambridge with one of the highest overall grade-point averages in the university’s 800+ year history, he went on to a great career in international diplomacy and elite academia – changing the course of world history by  always working hard to solidfy Israel’s place within it. Eban was also a well-known lover of eye wear amongst his friends and peers in the international community (like former US president Harry Truman) and as the above picture collage shows, proudly demonstrated it.
